Nahaia Russ

Nahaia Russ, N.D is an English born Londoner. Her family immigrated to New Zealand when she was young and then returned back to London when she was 11 years old. She completed her secondary school in heart of London.

After finishing her studies, she started her professional life very successfully as an 18 year old, in corporate computer hardware sales in New Zealand. She ran a sideline business as an aerobics instructor and personal fitness trainer outside of the full time employment for many years.

After her big OE to USA & Europe, Nahaia's innate love of nature, and interest in natural health, lead her back to New Zealand where she undertook naturopathic studies in 1995. She graduated as a Naturopath from South Pacific College of Natural Therapeutics, in 1997 with a major in Herbal Medicine.

Nahaia completed her thesis on natural sunscreen, after discovering that a combination of New Zealand native plant extracts created a synergistic sunscreen protection. This unique concept saw her launch New Zealand's very first natural sunscreens in 1999. They were distributed under her brand name 'Native Spirit', through Eco Store, Health Food Stores and Supermarkets where the interest in 'Natural' was received with enthusiasm by enquiring shop keepers as there was nothing else like it with a SPF 25 rating! As a pioneer in skin care preparations with new scientific findings, Nahaia enjoys being able to develop what others have not!

Nahaia combined her keen business sense with her new qualification in Naturopathy and opened her first full time clinic in Auckland City Central. Operating out of K'Rd for 3 years working on her sunscreen range, Nahaia then took some time off to have a family. But kept her private clinical practice open from home.

Between 1998-2002 Nahaia became known as 'Natural Nahaia' the talk show co-host with Mickey Havoc on BFM. Her show comprised of talks on naturopathic solutions to common ailements and answering callers specific health problems within the constitution of naturopathic principles. She also lectured at Wellpark College for two years during this time.

Nahaia re-entered the world of business again after having her first child, launching a Healing Spa in Takapuna in 2008 where she held her clinical practice along with other practitioners offering varying modalities in the natural wellness industry. She also began work on her second product range, what has now become known as Nahaia Active Organics.

"In alignment with my philosophy of conscious living, I wanted to create a skincare range that would help raise awareness that, if formulated correctly, organic skin care can create great results. Everything that goes in to each of my products has a purpose related to created healthy, vibrant skin. I spent 3 years in the laboratory perfecting my natural preservative blend so that even the preserving is actively transforming your skin. It gives me great satisfaction in life to offer such a pure, active and results orientated skin care range."
